Discover the Basque Country

Start in the morning with your local guide in a comfortable minibus that will take you on a day trip along the Basque coast that’s brimming with culture and history. Your journey takes you to the city of Guernica, the town that rose from its ashes, via the extraordinary Urdaibai UNESCO Biosphere Reserve to the city of Mundaka - culminating in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. From here, you have a spectacular view of the Cantabrian Sea with breathtaking cliffs. Game of Thrones fans will quickly recognise this island, which is connected to the mainland by a winding path. On the way back to Bilbao, stop for a glass of ‘txakoli’, a slightly sparkling Basque white wine.

The Guggenheim – where art is at home

After your tour, you’ll head straight to the Guggenheim Museum - a museum of contemporary and modern art. It is considered the city’s showpiece, and has been the magnet for many art lovers and connoisseurs since its opening in 1997. The importance of the museum is such that the city divides its history into the era before its construction and the era after its construction. With an average of over 1.1 million visitors per year, the Guggenheim is one of Spain’s most popular museums and also one of the largest. With its spectacular structure of glass, limestone and titanium in the deconstructivist style, the museum immediately became one of the world’s most important buildings of the 20th century.

Traditional finale

In the evening, it’s time to try Basque cuisine. Choose between “pintxos”, little pieces of heaven on a plate, or dinner in a modern Basque restaurant where tradition meets the avant-garde.

At the end of the evening, your private transport will take you back to the hotel.
