When will the changes come into effect?
The changes will apply to all flights on or after 1 January 2024 – regardless of when they were booked.
What is changing?
- New Points system
To achieve frequent flyer status in future, you will need to earn Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points. In the awards programme, you will continue to earn award miles as before.
- Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points
You will earn Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points for flights operated by the following airlines:
Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Eurowings Discover and Air Dolomiti, plus the co-issuing Miles & More airline partners: Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines and Luxair. HON Circle Points will only be awarded for flights in Business and First Class.
You will earn Points for flights operated by all airlines where you get Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points, plus all Star Alliance airlines.
To achieve Frequent Traveller or Senator status, you will need both Points and Qualifying Points. To achieve HON Circle status, you will need HON Circle Points.
This is how many Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points you can earn on each flight segment:

HON Circle Points will only be awarded for flights in Business and First Class in accordance with this table.

- Qualification period and validity
The qualification period will be one calendar year for all status levels – including HON Circle Member.
From 1 January 2024, if you achieve or renew your status based on Points and Qualifying Points, or HON Circle Points, the term will be a minimum of one year. It will start as soon as you have achieved your status and finish at the end of February the year after next.
Example: if you achieve your status in April 2024, it will be valid until the end of February 2026.
- Frequent Traveller Lifetime and Senator Lifetime
In future, we would like to offer greater rewards for long-term membership, which is why we are introducing Frequent Traveller Lifetime and Senator Lifetime. Earn 30,000 Qualifying Points over the years, and you will achieve Frequent Traveller Lifetime status. If you keep earning and accrue 40,000 Qualifying Points, you will achieve Senator Lifetime status.
Status Stars points will be converted into Qualifying Points to achieve Frequent Traveller Lifetime or Senator Lifetime status.
