Miles & More and help alliance: Strong partners for 15 years for a good cause

Frankfurt am Main, September 6, 2021 – Miles & More and help alliance have been strong partners for a good cause for 15 years: Europe's leading loyalty program for mobile people and the Lufthansa Group's non-profit aid organization launched "Miles to help" in 2006. Since then, Miles & More members have been able to donate award miles to help alliance's social projects. More than 730 million miles have been collected to date. This has enabled help alliance to support numerous disadvantaged people worldwide in the areas of education, work and income, medical care and nutrition. Miles & More and help alliance say "thank you" for every mile donation that has made a big difference.

The value of mile donations benefits aid projects 1:1

For example, over 35,000 meals were distributed and many disadvantaged young people were helped to start a secure future with education opportunities: This includes the construction of several school buildings and orphanages, the financing of 700 livelihood training courses and 17,000 school bags, pencil cases or textbooks. Over 100 annual salaries for local medical staff have also been secured with the donations.

"The support of Miles & More customers plays a major role for help alliance, and a lot of things could be realized as a result. The value of the mileage donations benefits our aid projects one-to-one. We ensure this by having Lufthansa Group employees voluntarily supervise and take responsibility for the projects," says Andrea Pernkopf, Managing Director of help alliance. They are also supported by Miles & More employees: Last year alone, nine Miles & More colleagues worked as volunteers in help alliance projects.

Common goal: building a training centre for young people in Togo

A future project that is close to the hearts of the two partners is in the West African state of Togo: "With the help of mile donations from the Miles & More Community, we would like to finance the construction of a training centre in Togo for young people. Only a few people there have access to a solid education and without it they can quickly end up on the margins of society. We want to change this together and give them better opportunities. In order to motivate as many of our members as possible to support this project, we plan to actively involve them in the development of the training centre via the Miles & More media channels," says Sebastian Riedle, Managing Director at Miles & More GmbH.

Big donation challenge in the anniversary year

In this anniversary year, the two partners have come up with a special campaign: A major donation challenge will be launched in the Miles & More app this month. The goal is to collect 15 million miles in the Miles & More community to do even more good.
