Mileage validity
The award miles earned by holders of a Miles & More credit card and by Frequent Travellers, Senators and HON Circle Members do not expire.
The following rules apply in respect of mileage validity for Lufthansa Miles & More credit cards issued in Germany:
- For holders of a German Lufthansa Miles & More Credit Card award miles have unlimited validity. Miles no longer expire - as they used to - after 36 months.
- This unlimited mileage validity applies to all award miles - irrespective of whether these were or are earned on a flight, paying for goods or in promotions from other Miles & More partners.
- The miles stop expiring from the date of issue of the credit card (not the date the credit card application form is sent off!). Therefore a processing time of approximately three weeks should be allowed when applying for a card, particularly before the expiry dates (= end of the quarter).
- Miles which have already expired cannot be reactivated by the issuing of a Lufthansa Miles & More Credit Card.
- Should the Lufthansa Miles & More Credit Card be cancelled, unlimited validity will be lifted again from the time that the cancellation came into effect and award miles will expire within 36 months of the original occasion on which they were earned (take-off of the relevant flight, start of a hotel stay, time of car rental, etc.). However there is a cooling off period of three months granted at the end of the quarter in which the card was cancelled - award miles which would expire in this period, or would have already expired on cancellation of the card, remain valid until the end of the aforementioned cooling off period.
